A cool wind is on its way, with falling leaves and pumpkin spice lattes abound!
Here is our list of the some fun activities to enjoy around the GTA as we head into autumn:
The World Food & Cultural Festival
September 27 & 28, Christie Pits Park (free tickets available here!)

This free festival (see above for tickets) promises a “gastronomic adventure” with a resplendent assortment of authentic dishes from all over the globe, alongside interactive workshops, cooking classes, art demonstrations, and so much more.
Toronto Oktoberfest
September 27 and 28, Downsview Airport Lands

Our first event is a classic fall festival with a new location! Toronto Oktoberfest will be one of the first hosts at the Downsview Airport Lands Airplane Hangar, with German music, Schuhplattler dancing, traditional food and drink, games, contests, and more!
Pro Sports Games
Various venues, all season long

The fall is one of the best times to be a sports fan in Toronto, with the Blue Jays cluing up their baseball season up to the end of September, then pro hockey (Maple Leafs) and basketball (Raptors) starting up in October. And don’t sleep on checking out a Toronto FC soccer game!
Pumpkinville
September 28 – October 31, 25 The West Mall, Etobicoke (advance tickets required)

If you’re excited for Halloween, Pumpkinville needs to be one of your first stops this fall, promising “larger-than-life pumpkin sculptures, pumpkin houses and village inside of a candy forest all made with over 30,000 REAL pumpkins”. Food trucks, dog-friendly dates, and an incredible fall atmosphere await!
Nuit Blanche Festival
October 5, 7 pm to 7 am, throughout Toronto

Toronto’s Nuit Blanche is a “free all-night celebration of contemporary art” occurring all across the city. This year’s theme is Bridging Distance, giving festival-goers an opportunity to “explore ways in which they experience and perceive distance” across over 80 exhibitions.
Art Toronto (25th Anniversary)
October 24–27, Metro Toronto Convention Centre North Building

Billed as the country’s oldest and largest international art fair, Art Toronto is celebrating 25 years of showcasing incredible national and international exhibits and installations.
Murdoch Mysteries Escape Room at Casa Loma
Tuesdays–Sundays, various times (see ticket info and more here)

Of course we recommend the “Legends of Horror” experience at Casa Loma in October, but for something a little different: why not try a mystery escape game based on TV’s Murdoch Mysteries! Detective Murdoch’s gone missing, so it’s up to your intrepid group to discover the “Secret of Station House No. 4”!
Distillery District Fall Market
October 12 & 13, rain or shine

The Fall Market at the Distillery this year will have “unique and artisanal products” and vendors who will “engage our community and speak knowledgeably about the local products they create, sell, and produce.” A great opportunity to support local, and maybe get some early holiday shopping done!
Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland
Select nights between September 27 and October 27 (not recommended for children under 13)

Last but not least, a chance to truly get spooked this season, where the iconic theme park becomes a “scream park” on select nights. Enjoy the thrill of multiple “scare zones”, night rides, live entertainment, and six themed mazes.
